The Analyst says...
Real Madrid are currently on a 11-game unbeaten run, 9 games of which they have won. As such, they are now 2nd in the La Liga table, and have advanced in the next round of Champions League as well where they will face Liverpool. They have held the high-scoring Atalanta team to a total of 1 goal over the 2 legs so that says a lot about their defense. Sergio Ramos will not feature in the 1st leg though after sustaining a calf injury in his international duties.
Liverpool have lost in the Champions League Finals against Real Madrid in 2018. The good thing about that Finals loss was that they regrouped, bought a few good players and actually won the Champions League the very next year. They have been inconsistent this season, to say the least, partly due to injuries. They are however on a 3-game winning run against RB Leipzig, Wolves, and Arsenal. They scored a total of 6 goals in that run while conceding none. So momentum might be on their side which is timely as they visit Real Madrid.
It's the 2017-18 Champions League Finals rematch. Liverpool must be waiting for this to come to avenge their Finals loss; they might need to wait a little longer though. The first leg will be held at Real Madrid. The handicap in the first leg is basically a pick, which I think is quite offensive to Real Madrid. Yes, Sergio Ramos will not feature and will be no doubt a big miss, but so does Van Dijk to Liverpool. I can take Real Madrid at Home, without a handicap? I'll take that any day! I am backing Real Madrid here.

Real Madrid tackle visiting Liverpool in the opening leg of their Champions League quarterfinals tie. Predictions and odds for this Real Madrid versus Liverpool match to be played at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano are available.

Heading into this clash, Los Blancos clipped visiting Eibar 2-0 in the La Liga.

Real Madrid reached the last 8 of the CL this campaign by subduing Atalanta 4-1 on aggregate.

This will be the first CL showdown between Real Madrid and Liverpool since the 2018 final, which the Spanish side won 3-1. This was the third straight CL tournament Real Madrid had won, while Carlo Ancelotti is the only manager who has won the competition as often as Zinedine Zidane (3).

Los Blancos have triumphed in the initial leg of eight of their last nine CL knockout ties, losing the other 2-1 at home to Manchester City in last season’s last 16.

In addition, the Spanish giants have won their last three CL matches, last winning four in a row back in April 2018 when they had a streak of five.

ZIDANE’S 50th GAME AS BOSS

This will be Zinedine Zidane’s 50th game as a manager in the CL. The Real Madrid boss has won 30 of his first 49, while the only manager to have won more through their first 50 games in the competition is Josef Heynckes (32).

Last year, Real Madrid were eliminated 4-2 on aggregate by Manchester City in the last 16, whilst then holders Liverpool were ousted 4-2 by Atletico Madrid also in the last 16.

Prior to this encounter, Liverpool proved too classy in a 3-0 lashing of hosts Arsenal to bolster their drive for a top-four finish in the Premier League.  The Reds made it to the CL last 8 at the expense of RB Leipzig 4-0 on aggregate.

In their only previous two-legged knockout European tie, the Reds won 5-0 on aggregate against Real Madrid in the last 16 of the 2008-09 CL. It was Madrid's biggest-ever aggregate defeat in a two-legged knockout tie in the competition.

As for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, he has has won each of his last five games at the quarter-final stage of the CL, including all four of his games at this stage while in charge of the Reds (two versus Manchester City in 2017-18 and FC Porto in 2019-20).

Players to watch in this match are Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for Liverpool, and Karim Benzema and Luka Modric for Real Madrid.
