In reaching the CL last 8, City upended Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 on aggregate, whilst Dortmund nipped Sevilla 5-4 on aggregate.

This will be Dortmund’s first CL quarter-final since 2016-17, when they lost 6-3 on aggregate to Monaco. Dortmund have won the first leg in just one of their previous six quarter-final ties (2 draws, 3 losses)), a 3-1 home win over Auxerre in 1996-97.
Since losing their opening group stage game on matchday 1 (1-3 versus Lazio), Dortmund have gone unbeaten in their last seven games in the CL (5 wins, 2 draws). They last had a longer streak in the competition between 2012 and 2013, going 11 games without a loss under Jürgen Klopp.
In last year’s competition, City were ousted by Lyon 3-1 in the quarterfinals whilst Dortmund were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on aggregate in the last 15.
