The House says...
Manchester City visited Leicester in their last league match and won again 2-0. The Premier League title is all but assured. They will now turn their focus to their next opponent in Champions League which is Dortmund. They have breezed past Monchengladbach in the last round, and while Dortmund is a lot better in terms of talent, Manchester City are still the favorites to win this tie, and rightfully so. They have been dominant this season both on league and European competitions.
Dortmund have done just enough to progress in the next round of Champions League. They have knocked out Sevilla in a highly contested match that ended in an aggregate score of 5-4. Erling Haaland had 4 goals and assisted 1 in that tie which was impressive. They did lost in their last league match against Frankfurt, but will now focus in this very important first leg against City. They can take comfort though with the fact that they are undefeated in their last 5 matches against Man City in all competitions.
This is going to be a great match. It will be nice to see how will Erling Haaland fare against a good defensive team. Manchester City have won 7 of their last 8 matches in the Champions League, and kept a clean sheet in their last 7. They have just been dominant this season in every facet of the game. On the other hand, Dortmund have been very inconsistent. The handicap here looks a tad big, but there's a reason to it, and I am still backing it as a matter of fact. City being dominant, paired with a leaky Dortmund defense, I am backing Manchester City to cover the handicap.
Asian Handicap
Manchester City -1.5

Manchester City host Borussia Dotmund in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinals tie. Predictions and odds for this Manchester City versus Borussia Dotmun match to be played at Etihad Stadium are available.

City head into this game after downing hosts Leicester City 2-0 to move to within four wins of bagging the this season’s Premier League.

In reaching the CL last 8, City upended Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 on aggregate, whilst Dortmund nipped Sevilla 5-4 on aggregate.

City and Dortmund collided in the CL group stage in the 2012-13 season, the only two previous meetings between the clubs -- a 1-1 draw at the Etihad and a 1-0 Dortmund win at Signal Iduna Park.

The Premier League side have won 10 of their last 11 CL matches against German opposition (1 draw) and have 12 wins against German teams in total. Only Real Madrid (26), Barcelona (20) and Manchester United (13) have more victories against German sides.

City have lost four of their five matches at the quarter-final stage of the CL under Pep Guardiola, with City going out at this stage in each of the last three seasons.

Moreover, City have not conceded a goal in any of their last seven games in the CL. Only Arsenal in 2005-06 have ever had a longer run of consecutive clean sheets in the competition (10 in a succession).

Including the finals, this will be Guardiola’s 60th game as a manager in the knockout stages of the CL. Only Carlo Ancelotti has managed more than that (62) but the current Manchester City boss already has the most victories in the knockout stages (31) in the history of the tournament.

Dortmund go into this game after bowing to visiting Eitracht Frankfurt 2-1 in the Bundesliga. Dortmund have posted just one win in their last five games in all competitions, whilst having two draws and two losses in the process.

This will be Dortmund’s first CL quarter-final since 2016-17, when they lost 6-3 on aggregate to Monaco. Dortmund have won the first leg in just one of their previous six quarter-final ties (2 draws, 3 losses)), a 3-1 home win over Auxerre in 1996-97.

Since losing their opening group stage game on matchday 1 (1-3 versus Lazio), Dortmund have gone unbeaten in their last seven games in the CL (5 wins, 2 draws). They last had a longer streak in the competition between 2012 and 2013, going 11 games without a loss under Jürgen Klopp.

In last year’s competition, City were ousted by Lyon 3-1 in the quarterfinals whilst Dortmund were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain  3-2 on aggregate in the last 15.

Players to watch are Erling Haaland for Dortmund and Kevin De Bruyne for City.
