The Conspiracy Theorist says...
Chelsea got their 2nd win in the Premier League as they easily defeated Crystal Palace 4-0 at home just before in the international break. It was a quiet first half for both teams; but the Blues were at full throttle in the 2nd half where they scored all 4 goals - with playmaker Jorginho scoring a brace and new signing Ben Chilwell getting on the scoresheet and providing an assist. They play again at Stamford Bridge and will aim to get their 2nd home win of the season.
Southampton got their first home win of the season with a 2-0 victory over West Brom before the break. Goals from Moussa Djenepo and Oriol Romeu ensured the hosts earned 3 points. From losing their first 2 opening games of the season, they have now managed to win back-to-back games.
It's a tough trip for the Saints as they take on a Chelsea team who are slowly getting better over time. Despite just having 2 wins in the EPL, the Blues are showing that their newly built squad is now starting to gel. But manager Frank Lampard may be without his two signings as Ben Chilwell withdrew from the England squad because of injury and Timo Werner still being unavailable for the international break. Southampton may have a chance here as they have managed to turn things around in their last 2 games after a disappointing opening to the season. Nevertheless, this may be a close game between the two teams - but I expect the hosts to narrowly edge out a victory here as the Saints are not known for good displays away from home, whereas the Blues have always been tough to outmatch at Stamford Bridge.
Asian Handicap
Chelsea -1
