The House says...
Everton have a perfect record to start the season with 4 wins, scoring 12 goals in the process while conceding 5. The hot-form trio of Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin and Rodriguez have put Everton at the top of the table. Aside from Tottenham who played like a League One team, Everton haven't really played against a very good team though, so this match against Liverpool will be their acid test.
Liverpool had entertaining matches to start the season with a 4-3 goalfest against Leeds United, and with the recent one a surprising 7-2 loss against Aston Villa. Surprising would actually still be an understatement. They will want to go back to winnings ways as they visit their neighbors. Thiago and Sadio Mane are both available after recovering from COVID-19. Keita and Shaqiri have also been cleared after initial positive tests but they will likely be on the bench for this one.
It's the Merseyside Derby and this might be the closest these two teams have been in terms of firepower in recent memory. Everton have drawn 7 of their last 8 Home matches against Liverpool in all competition, and with James Rodriguez anchoring the attack, I think Everton can hold their ground and can certainly get a result here. I am picking the Home team.
Asian Handicap
Everton +0.5

Leaders Everton host defending champion Liverpool in the Merseyside derby of the Premier League. Predictions and odds for this Everton versus Liverpool match to be played at Goodison Park are available.

The Toffees are riding high on a sizzling start to the 2020-21 season yy ruling their first four games, their best start since 1962.

They started their bid with a 1-0 win at Tottenham then won at home over West Bromwich Albion, 2-1 at Crystal Palace and in the latest, 4-2 at home over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, 12th placers last season, are showing the way this early with 12 points after four games. They lead Aston Villa, Leicester City, Arsenal and Liverpool by three points.

The Toffees are also enjoying back-to-back wins in the League Cup, 5-2 over Fleetwood Town and 4-1 over West Ham United.

Against Brighton, midfielder James Rodriguez scored a brace, whilst forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin and centre-back Yerry Mina added a goal each. It was the ninth goal of the season by Calvert-Lewin.

Liverpool, meanwhile, want to slay the ghost of an embarrassing and surprising 7-2 loss they absorbed at Aston Villa the last time out.

Forward Ollie Watkins scored a first-half hat-trick, whilst winger/attacking midfielder Jack Grealish netted Villa’s last two goals as the Reds tasted only their fourth loss since January 2019.

That debacle snapped a three-win run to start the season as Jurgen Klopp’s men suddenly lost steam at Villa Park.

The Reds dropped to fifth in the table with nine points. They trail fourth placers Arsenal just on goal difference.

In their last league meeting at Goodison Park, Everton and Liverpool fought to a scoreless draw.
