Lazio Betting Preview
The fight for Serie A’s top 4 in currently underway, but it’s put on hold in midweek as Atalanta take on Lazio for a rare chance to dethrone Juventus as the Coppa Italia holders. The domestic cup has been taken by the Turin side for the previous 4 seasons, but this term it’s between Atalanta and Lazio. The pair come into this final under very different circumstances though.
Atalanta were the side who knocked last season’s winners Juventus out of the competition, pulling off a 3-0 demolition of the Old Lady in the quarter-finals. It was a result that really helped to kick Atalanta on in their Serie A campaign as well. They’ve lost just 2 of their 17 games after that, a run which took them into this final and led them to 4th in Serie A.
Lazio’s hopes of making the Champions League spots were ended by none other than Atalanta. A 3-1 defeat at home 10 days ago pushed them out of the race for the top 4. It’s a sign of the club going backwards after they were 4th in the table with 45 minutes to go last season. They have been rather poor all season, with a squad revamp seemingly needed. Manager Simone Inzaghi, who is widely believed to have overachieved during his Lazio reign, is reportedly in the firing line. Given that his side have controversially got home advantage for this final, he’ll be expected to claim a win.
Atalanta have scored at least twice in 9 of their last 11 Coppa Italia games.
Atalanta have seen 3 or more goals in 67% of their Serie A games this term.
Atalanta are unbeaten in their last 10 league games (W7 D3).
Lazio are winless in 5 of their last 7 league games (W2)
