Kane Fit to Play for England vs USA
No worries for England fans.
Three Lions captain Harry Kane will see action when they battle the United States of America in Group B of the 2022 World Cup on Saturday at Al Bayt Stadium.
England is looking to nail their second straight win to claim a spot in the last 16, while the Americans eye their first victory. The Three Lions opened their bid with a 6-2 swamping of Iran, while the USA was held to a 1-1 standoff by Wales.
The 29-year-old Kane injured his ankle early in the second half of Monday's opening triumph over the Iranians. He was later substituted.
Gareth Southgate, the England manager, said on Friday: "Harry is fine. He has worked slightly separately from the group but all is good for Friday night. He had a scan (on Wednesday) to make sure everything is fine."
The Tottenham main man has scored 51 goals in 76 appearances for the Three Lions, two behind Wayne Rooney's record of 53.
Southgate also added that Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is feeling "much better" after also being substituted against Iran.
He added: "He (Maguire) was feeling ill and that was affecting his vision. You worry about concussion in that instant, but we were going back through all the footage and there is nothing, so he is in a good area."
In their attempt to beat the Americans, Southgate said: "We would like to get qualification done as soon as possible. The first objective is to get out of the group. We would love to do that on Friday, but the game won't be anything like Monday."
But he cautioned that the USA can be tough to beat. "They have quite a few players we know from the Premier League and they showed in the first half against Wales the best side of themselves."
