Real Madrid in Dilemma to Keep Ramos or Let Him Go
Sergio Ramos’ future with Real Madrid is looking bleak.
His contract with Los Blancos ends at the end of the season and the capital club want to give him just a one-year extension. Ramos reportedly wants a two-year contract.
Ramos’ loyalty will be tested here. He may stay and bite the bait, or look for another team where he can restart his career.
At 34 years of age, Ramos remains one of the most elite defenders in football. He has been playing with Real Madrid for 16 years.
If he opts to leave Los Blancos, there’s a team willing to sign him – French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG are said to be wooing him with three-year deal worth 18 million pounds per season.
However, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane said he wants Ramos to stay although the club have stressed to implement their policy of extending the contract f players over 30 years old by just a year.
In order to settle the issue, a dialogue between Ramos and club president Florentino Perez has been set.
Ramos had earlier expressed his wish to stay with the Los Blancos and hang up his jersey and boots there.
This season, Ramos has already made 10 appearances for Real Madrid, and has featured on 660 occasions for the club in total during a period of service which stretches almost 20 years.
2 MISSED PENALTIES
In his most recent duty for Spain, his two misses from the penalty spot during their Nations League 1-1 draw with Switzerland tainted his bid of becoming the most capped male European player.
The meeting will be crucial if the Spain captain will stay and get a fresh deal until 2023, or leave.
Ramos stands as the heart and soul of Real Madrid at the moment. Will the club let him go? Let’s see.
