Brace yourselves for another action-packed weekend in football as matches in the 2019-20 season of the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A gets into the decisive homestretch.

Let’s take a look at some of the crucial fixtures to be played this weekend:

PREMIER LEAGUE

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester

This will be a vital match between Spurs and the Foxes as they both eye to claim all three points at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

For Spurs, foremost on their mind is to snare a Europa League ticket. They sit seventh with 55 points heading into their penultimate fixture. Crowding that fight for European qualification are Sheffield United, Burnley, and Arsenal.

Spurs’ latest win was a much-needed 3-1 triumph at Newcastle United where Harry Kane had a double to pass 200 club goals.

The Foxes, meanwhile, aim for a Champions League seat but are in a tight mix with Chelsea and Manchester United.

Leicester subdued Sheffield United 2-0 at King Power Stadium to stay at fourth spot with 62 points, just a point behind third placers Chelsea and just above on goal difference over fifth placers United

Norwich City vs Burnley

Burnley seek the maximum points against relegated Norwich at Carrow Road.

A win gets Burnley into the tight battle for the last Europa League berth going into next weekend’s final day of action.

The Clarets have 51 points at ninth place and they are four points off seventh placers Tottenham. In their latest game, Burnley had a 1-1 draw at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers, thanks to the 96th-minute penalty shot of striker Chris Wood,


AFC Bournemouth vs Southampton

Bournemouth make their last-ditch bid to avoid relegation. If they beat Southampton at Vitality Stadium, they go into the final day of action needing to win again and pray that those placed near them falter to get rid of the drop zone

The Cherries lost 2-1 at Manchester City in their last game and remained at 18th spot and three points adrift of safety heading into this contest.

LA LIGA

Leganes vs Real Madrid

Champions Real Madrid will gun for the win to wrap up their triumphant season on Sunday, last day of action in the La Liga.

Los Blancos returned to the apex of Spanish football after bagging their first league title in three years following a 2-1 taming of Villarreal at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu where striker Karim Benzema scored both goals for the hosts.

It was the 34th overall La Liga title, a record in the league, for Los Blancos.

With this game left, Real Madrid have 86 points and will be very, very happy to end their campaign on a winning note.

Deportivo Alaves vs Barcelona

Deposed champions Barcelona try to cap their season with a win at Deportivo Alaves.

In their last game, Barca lost at Camp Nou 2-1 to Osasuna to kiss their slim title hopes goodbye.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad

Atletico Madrid want to seal a place in the Champions League, whilst Real Sociedad eye a place in the Europa League.

Atletico beat hosts Getafe 2-0 the last time out to remain at third place with 69 points.

Granada vs Athletic Club

Athletic Club target all three points in this visit as they try to snare a Europa League seat. Granada are looking to finish in the top 10.

Athletic will aim to bounce back from a bitter 2-0 home loss to Leganes, whilst Granada will go for one last win after taming hosts Mallorca 3-1.

Sevilla vs Valencia

Sevilla hope to get the victory at home in their bid cement a Champios League spot next season. Sevilla settled to a scoreless draw at Real Sociedad.

Valencia beat Espanyol 1-0 at home and will gun for a Europa League spot after moving to eighth spot with 53 points.

SERIE A

Milan vs Bologna

Milan seek to win at home against Bologna on Saturday to fortify their mission to claim a Europa League spot.

The Rossoneri sit seventh with 53 points after they beat visiting Parma 3-1. Bologna aim to stay in the top 10. They are in 10th place with 43 points after drawing 1-1 at home against Napoli.

Roma vs Internazionale

Inter try to nail all three points this Sunday at Roma to stay on track in their bid for a Champions League slot.

Roma also go for a win to move close to the top four.

Inter drubbed bottom-team SPAL 4-0 for a huge victory to wrest second place as they now have 71 points. Atalanta dropped to third with 70 and Lazio went down to fourth with 69 points.

Brescia vs SPAL

This is an interesting contest between second-to-last team Brescia and bottom-side SPAL.
