Premier League players fearing Covid-19 not returning to training
Several players have expressed their concerns about returning to action in the Premier League.
Sergio Aguero of Manchester City, Manuel Lanzini of West Ham United and Danny Rose of Newcastle United were among those who said they are not going back to training whilst the coronavirus (Covid-19) threat remains.
They voiced their fears via the Premier League players’ WhatsApp group.
According to Sportsmail, those players have major reservations about resuming work next week even as the league pushed for the season’s resumption under Project Restart.
Several top-flight clubs are scheduled to hold video conference calls over the next two days to inform players on health and safety protocols. Players are also expected to inform their bosses that they would rather not report for training set for May 18.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports that some players would not return. ``I don’t think you’re ever going to get everyone on board.’’
